Finding a gentler rhythm in your day

Use a few familiar anchors without planning every minute.

Finding a gentler rhythm in your day

Notice what already repeats

Look at the parts of a day that happen regularly in your household, such as an adult’s work departure or a familiar outing. These can help you organise practical tasks. They are not a prescription for your baby’s feeding or sleep needs.

Choose one helpful anchor

You might prepare tomorrow’s bag after dinner or review the next day’s handover in the evening. Choose an action that makes life easier for the caregivers. Start with one rather than creating a timetable for everything.

Leave space between plans

Travel, changes and interruptions can take longer than expected. Avoid treating a delayed task as a failed day. Keep optional activities optional and decide which jobs can be postponed without causing a problem.

Use records only when they help

A tracker can support a handover or remind you of an event. It does not need to become a target. If recording every detail adds pressure without helping you, simplify your entries and speak with your care team about questions that need individual advice.

Try this, at your own pace.

  • Notice one existing daily anchor.
  • Attach one small preparation task to it.
  • Leave one part of the day unplanned.
